For Australian citizens, there are currently two types of tourist visas available: 

  • Visa on Arrival (Single and Multiple Entry) with a validity of 30 days 

  • E-visa (Single and Multiple Entry) with a validity of 90 days.

Steps to Get Vietnam Visas for Australians

The mandatory criteria for applying for tourist visas to Vietnam:

  • Your Australian passport is valid for at least 6 months of entry into Vietnam with at least 2 black pages.

  • Passport soft copy full personal detail page.

  • Your portrait soft copy.

  • Email to receive OTP and visa results.

  • Credit card/debit card payments for online transactions, or bring cash for the visa-on-arrival process.

E-visa

1. Complete the online application form to receive an Approval Letter.

(Aussies who apply for the Visa on Arrival need to contact certain travel agencies issuing  the Approval Letter)

2. Receive the Approval Letter via email.

3. Upon arrival in Vietnam, present the Approval Letter along with 2 passport-size photos, your valid passport, and the stamping fee in cash.

Submit these necessary documents at the immigration counter to obtain the visa-on-arrival stamp.

1. Fill out the secure online visa application form and proceed with the payment.

2. Receive the E-Visa letter directly in your registered email within the processing time.

3. Download your E-Visa letter and present it to the Vietnam Immigration Officer upon your arrival to complete your entry into Vietnam.

 

Comparing the Vietnam Visas for Australian Citizens process, the E-visa option is more convenient. You only need to apply online and present it upon arrival. For a Visa on Arrival, you need to obtain an Approval Letter and complete the necessary paperwork at the airport.
