The culinary guide introduces it as a family-run broken rice shop that has been open since 1995. It is known to locals for its charcoal-grilled pork chop rice, with large pork chops marinated with a unique family recipe.
The shop uses pork chops (the meat close to the ribs) for the broken rice dish. Fresh meat is delivered daily, and grilled to order. The meat grill in front of the shop is always running at full capacity.
The shop's specialty lies in its grilled pork chop. The average pork chop weighs 400-600 grams, covering almost the entire plate of broken rice.
The grilling
"You need to choose large, thick chops so that when grilled, the meat doesn't dry out," the shop owner said, adding that the meat is hand-cut and marinated for 4-6 hours before grilling.
With the main ingredient being grilled pork chop, the broken rice shop offers a menu of six dishes for customers to choose from. Other side dishes include sunny-side-up eggs, shredded pork skin, steamed egg meatloaf, Chinese sausage, and grilled chicken thighs. The lowest priced dish is grilled pork chop broken rice at 75,000 VND, while the mixed plate costs 145,000 VND.
