At first glance, trips to Asia may seem expensive, with airfare costing twice as much as flights to Europe. However, Asia always has surprises in store for those who know where to go for affordable prices.

On July 31st, the American travel magazine Travel & Leisure published a list of the 10 cheapest cities in Asia for travel. The list is based on the average cost of round-trip economy class airfare and standard double room rates from June to December, as provided by the online travel platform Kayak.

Ho Chi Minh City ranked second, with an average trip cost of around $1,452. Ethan Crowley, a trip planning expert at Asia Desk, mentioned that direct flights from the US to Vietnam significantly benefit travelers. Round-trip airfare costs approximately $660.

The capital city, Hanoi, ranked ninth, with a total trip cost of around $1,546. Crowley noted that Vietnam is a destination with delicious and affordable food, and excellent public transportation. Accommodations, ranging from budget to luxury, are cheaper compared to the regional average.
