The best time to visit Ninh Binh
Best time to visit Ninh Binh for travelers
May - June is considered the best time to visit Ninh Binh, as it marks the ripening season of rice paddies. The peak time for Ninh Binh tourism is from September to June.
-
During the peak travel period, the weather and scenery are exceptionally favorable for exploring famous tourist spots and engaging in outdoor activities like biking, boating, hiking, and joining spring New Year events.
However, you should be prepared for longer queues and higher service prices.
-
Although the summer months of July and August are often avoided due to intense heat and humidity in Ninh Binh, this time offers the advantage of fewer tourists, which means better prices and more convenient sightseeing.
Also, summer in Ninh Binh is a good time to watch mesmerizing lotus ponds or retreat in eco-tourism resorts.
Sunset in Van Long Lagoon
Regardless of the season, the beauty of Ninh Binh’s sunset remains enchanting throughout the year. The best spots to admire the Ninh Binh sunset include the boat dock area of Tam Coc, Van Long, Trang An, and the peak mount of Mua Cave. During this time, taking a stroll or biking through the fields is also delightful.
Attractions to Visit
Tam Coc in its golden season
-
Tam Coc - Bich Dong: Tam Coc boasts a famous boat dock for scenic rides amidst rice fields on both sides. Bich Dong is a renowned cave and temple area surrounded by a lotus pond. This picturesque complex is perfect for sightseeing and is close to service centers, shops, bars, and massage places.
-
Mua Cave: Hang Mua is close to Tam Coc. From the top of the mountain, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the mountainous valley and the rice fields below. It's a perfect spot for capturing impressive perspectives and photos.
-
Dinh Le Temple: This historical temple is the former royal capital that retains the imprints of Vietnam's early feudal dynasties.
-
Van Long Lagoon: This is the largest wetland nature reserve in the Northern Delta region of Vietnam. If you visit this place around 3 - 5 in the afternoon, you will witness the impressive sight of flocks of birds returning to their nests at the end of the day.
-
Hoa Lu Old Town: This area recreates the scene of the ancient Ninh Binh town. At night, it is adorned with beautiful lanterns and bustling with numerous sightseeing and trading activities.
-
Trang An: This UNESCO-acclaimed site in Ninh Binh is renowned for its scenic beauty. Like Tam Coc, it offers boat rides, but this location tends to be more crowded and meticulously managed.
-
Bai Dinh Pagoda: An extensive temple complex that occupies 539 hectares. I recommend you to visit the ancient temple area if you prefer tranquility and a connection with nature. The expansive new temple region holds numerous construction records.
